Academic Background

Larry holds a Foundation Degree in Arboriculture (with Merit) from the University of Brighton, delivered by Plumpton College, alongside a BSc (Hons) in Ecology.
This academic background provides a strong understanding of tree biology, environmental systems and the wider ecological impact of tree management decisions.

Professional Tree Surgery Qualifications

All tree work is carried out by fully qualified professionals holding recognised NPTC (City & Guilds), Lantra and industry-standard certifications across tree surgery, aerial operations, machinery use and arboricultural safety.

Chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting (CS30)
Felling and processing small trees (CS31)
Tree climbing and aerial rescue (CS38)
Aerial cutting using a chainsaw (CS39)

Larry is a Lantra-certified Professional Tree Inspector (PTI), a recognised industry standard for tree safety assessment.

Health, Safety & Industry Compliance

Talking Elm Tree Services operates with a strong focus on safety and compliance, supported by:
- CITB Health, Safety & Environment certification
- IPAF operator certification for powered access equipment
All work is carried out in accordance with BS3998 (tree work) and BS5837 (trees in relation to construction) standards.

Copies of certifications can be provided where required for commercial projects or site access compliance.
